One Day Conference on Contribution of Schedule Tribe Leaders in Independence Movement

On the 13th of February 2023, a one-day conference was held to shed light on the significant contributions of Schedule Tribe leaders in the independence movement, initiated by National Commission of Schedule Tribe, Delhi. The program was organized by SC-ST cell of SPB English Medium College of Commerce, Surat.

The program was conducted by Ms. Mitali R. Patel, member of SC/ST Cell. The Program was attended by approximately 50 Students and all faculties of our college. University Program Co-ordinator Dr. Deepak Bhoye and Speaker of the programme Shri Balaji Raje were present as the Chief Guests. The program started with prayer and the Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Savita Sondhi, IQAC co-ordinator. She emphasized the role of Schedule Tribe leaders in the Indian independence movement, which is often overlooked or marginalized.

The speakers highlighted the significant contributions of leaders such as Birsa Munda, Tilka Majhi among others. They discussed how these leaders fought against British colonialism and raised awareness among the tribal communities to resist the British rule. The conference brought together students and future research scholars to highlight the often overlooked and marginalized history of the tribal communities in India.

The Program ended with a vote of thanks. Committee was very grateful to our Principal Dr. V.D Naik sir for his encouragement and guidance that contributed to the success of program. Overall, the programme was a significant step in acknowledging the contributions of Schedule Tribe leaders in the Indian independence movement for which we are thankful to our Speaker Shri Balaji Raje.

National Conference on Research in Accountancy

 Research is a term with many connotations. Many people think that research is easy. Pick a topic, look it up in the internet and write a paper. But this process is far from the truth. Understanding the fundamentals of research is important because those fundamentals will serve as a foundation for the research. Researcher must think critically and logically during the research process to ensure that the research is both valid and reliable. Research has to integrate the concept of validity, reliability and the function of critical thinking in the research process and researcher’s contribution to knowledge in society.

SPB English Medium College of Commerce And South Gujarat Branch of Indian Accounting Association jointly organized the National Conference on “Research in Accountancy” on Thursday, 15th February 2018. The conference theme aimed to create a platform for discussion that provided a remarkable shift in the world of business towards sustainability, globalization, transparent system and change of business relationship towards the society at large.

The national conference was inaugurated with the lighting of lamp and followed by prayer by the chief guest and keynote speaker Dr. B.A. Prajapati, Hon. Vice Chancellor, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan; Guest of Honor, Dr. Karamjeet Singh, President, Indian Accounting Association and C.A. Shri C.S. Jariwala, Chairman, Sarvajanik Education Society. Later the formal   welcome was conducted by our principal Dr. V. D Naik by presenting books as a token of gratitude on behalf of the SPB family. The conference chairman was Dr. V. D. Naik, conference secretary was Dr. Punyaprava Pradhan , conference coordinator was Dr. Heena Oza  and organizing committee included Dr. Aaishwarya Kulkarni , Ms Farida Mandviwala and Mr Ravi Patel.

The chief guest and keynote speaker addressed the participants and highlighted to the research theme. According to him “research in accountancy” is research on the effect of economic events on the process of accounting and the effect of reported information on economic events. It encompasses a broad range of research areas including financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and taxation. Later Dr. Karamjeet Singh depicted the characteristics of a true academician through a beautiful story.

The presence of eminent dignitaries during this one day conference was a testimony to our sincere pursuit to achieve nothing less than the “best”.

During the key note session  Dr Sanjay Bhayani, Dr. Ketan Upadhyay  ,CA Keyur Mehta , CS Hemant Valand delivered expert lecture on IFRS, Research in Accountancy, GST, Companies Act 2013 respectively. The session was chaired by Dr. Sandeep Bhatt.

The response of participants was phenomenal . There were 136 participants and 36 research papers were presented in two technical sessions. Dr. K. B. Rao from Gujarat University and Dr. Jimmy Kapadia from S. R. Luthra Institute of Management chaired the technical sessions. Conference served as an interactive forum to discuss issues related to GST, CSR, Environmental Accounting, Merger, Forensic Accounting and other areas.

The conference offered an opportunity for the participants to share their innovative ideas and research findings and further discuss the implications for business and economy. We thank all of them for sharing their research paper in this conference.

We received overwhelming response from several premier institutions across the country for the conference. We are very pleased to announce that one edited book featuring the selected  papers , received for the conference , will be released in near future.

We also believe that this event has incubated valuable ideas into the minds of the researchers and enable them to pursue research in the area of business and economy.
